We’ve started walking our talk. FY18 is the year integrating sustainability into the heart of our plans, corporate strategies and initiatives got real traction. It’s exciting, come and take a look.
We’re delighted to publish our second Sustainability Report online, sharing with you our ongoing journey towards being a sustainable business and a willing community partner.
This year brought good news; we have carbon footprint data in from the USA for the first time, so we can complete an up-to-date picture of our global footprint. In the last 12 months, we have made great progress with our Electric RV research, completed Community Impact Assessments in key areas within New Zealand, and started recycling, tree planting and volunteer initiatives - but that’s just the beginning.
We also report on the not so good, what we’re doing about it, and how our initiatives will mitigate our impact in future.
This report is all about our journey to meaningful and lasting sustainability within the thl group. The broader team across the globe are joining us on this journey. We had over 80% of the crew in the recent engagement survey recognise the importance of sustainability to thl.
For economic disclosures and a list of all thl's financial statements, please refer to our Annual Report.

Sustainability pillars
The last year has seen thl begin to weave sustainability into the very fabric of our corporate strategy. As we mature as a sustainable business, we’re forging programmes that deliver sustainability under our three pillars of Protect, Respect and Grow. We are also starting to align our framework and pillars with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Here’s a little more about what our pillars mean:

Protect
Our Protect pillar concerns itself with our response and commitment to protecting our natural environment. It relates to thl’s contribution towards climate change and how it impacts our environment.
Protect dictates our response to climate change and our emissions, measuring and reducing our carbon footprint, and moving towards a low emission fleet.

Respect
Respect is a broad theme for thl, promoting responsible travel to our customers and providing the education, vehicles and customer support which allows that to happen.
It’s also about caring for the wellbeing of our crew, always putting safety first and embracing and supporting the communities that we touch; partnering with them to create a better future for us all.

Grow
Grow is all about our willingness to be bold - to be a sustainability leader in tourism, while growing the business for everyone’s benefit. It’s about embracing the challenge, taking responsibility for and managing our customers’ interaction with the environment, and being transparent in the way we do that.
Grow underpins long-term shareholder satisfaction and the success of thl.
